Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

child custody

Former daughter-in-law ''remarried'' before divorce was final and abandoned my son's child and stepchild for over 8 months, yet continued to collect child support for her son from a former marriage, yet did not provide any financial support for either children. She has consistently ignored opportunities to spend custodial periods with their son, , yet often brings her own son for my son to care for when he has their son. Now she is threatening to sue for full custody, having become angered because my son has found someone he is planning to marry. They have been divorced for over 2 years, and her ''new husband'' has been in jail most of that time. He was a public official convicted of malfeasance. She has had several sexual partners during this period, and the children have been witness to this lifestyle and have also been left alone many times. Her own child was failing home-schooling when she first left, but we put him back in public school, and managed to help him to catch up with his class. However, when she resumed custody of him during the following school year, he lost ground and was absent from school a greater number of days than state law allows. Allowed to pass to the next grade, he is barely passing.
