Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

child custody when both parents are deceased

my son recently(11*13*08) murdered himself as well as the mother of his child after they broke up for 1 month. I went to get my grandaughter for the weekend from her great aunt on yesterday, but she refused to give her to me The police was called and I was told that there was nothing that they can do because I did'nt have any paperwork from the courts and that she have all rights to keep the child until I produce court documents. I'm the child's paternal grandmother. the maternal grandmother is incarcerated and has been for the past 13 years and the maternal grandfather is dead. there are no god parents. what do I do? please help me. I don't know these people and the great aunt is preparing to move from this location very soon. Please help me!

Re: child custody when both parents are deceased

Contact a family law attorney & file for custody. Even if you do not get custody the court will very likely award you visitation.
