Re: Child Custody

Not having a job is one of many factors that are considered in a child custody matter. If you have been the children's primary caregiver, and that is the reason you are not employed, that would seem to me to be a bigger factor in your favor if all other things are equal and you can, with support, provide for the children while you are obtaining employment. After a time, however, you should become more responsible for supporting yourself and providing some suport for the children consistent with your ability to be employed. In other words, I do not think it is wise for anyone to plan to make a living off child support. I understand that you did not indicate that you have any such plans.
