Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I have a child with a woman who lives in Ga i live in La. we were never married, there was never any custody agreement or papers , she is allowong him to be brought to me by a third party, am i leagally bound to return him , is there a way i can keep her from getting him back, for his well being or him telling me he does not want to go back? he is 7 will be 8 next month.

You can file a Petition in your jurisdiction for custody, but I warn you that since he has live for almost 8 years in Ga, the LA court may transfer it there if the mom asks for that. The child wants to stay with you because you guys have fun while he is in LA and that is a very common problem with parents who do not have to take care of their children on a day to day, hour to hour basis. If you want to do it right, go to Georgia and file for custody.
