If a person appears before the court in a civil case without an attorney and requests for a continuance to allow more time to retain an attorney. Does the court have the right to deny the person legal representation? If so which law addresses this issue?

Re: Concontinuance

The court may deny the opportunity if the party had a reasonable amount of time to obtain a lawyer.
