Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
I have court ordered visitation every other weekend and each Tues and Thurs night. However, each time my daughters father gets upset with me he refuses to relinquish our child into my care. I have limited income and I can't afford to take him back to court every time he does this which is approx. every 3 months. The length of time I go without contact with our daughter varies. He is mentally abusive toward me and controls my daughter through fear by threatening her that if she tells me anything that goes on in there home that she can't see me. This last time she told me that her dad and her stepmother were drinking and driving with her in the car and she was scared. I confronted him in Oct of 2010, regarding this matter. As of August 24, 2011, he has not let me see our daughter since May 20, 2011. He is now saying that he suspects that I am on drugs in retaliation. However, I have been tested in court on more than one occasion at his request with negative results. I have also offered to be subjected to a hair follicle test. I am paying child support and I can't afford to hire an attorney at this time. Also, I make too much money for legal aid to assist me in this matter. Do I have any other options?

You can proceed without an attorney or contact your local bar association to see if they have a list of attorneys who will take your case. He is in contempt and it is possible that he could lose custodial status if it is found he is not acting in the child's best interest.
