Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I have to go to court over paternity establishment with the father in 6 weeks. The father acknowledges her and gives what he can, but he cannot afford to pay court ordered child support. Can I cancel the request for child support? How do I cancel? Will my daughter stop receiving Medicaid? I am on Medicaid and SSI also. Based off of my financial situation would she still receive Medicaid if I cancel the pursuit of child support?

If you are receiving financial assistance from the state for your child, the state offsets this by seeking child support from the other parent. If the parent hasn't acknowledged paternity, the state will attempt to establish paternity and seek support.
