Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
What are the current guidelines concerning permanent spousal support in Louisiana with regard to the amount that can be obtained (is it still a third of the net income), the circumstances for which it can be terminated if originally it was a consent judgment for permanent spousal support?

Permanent spousal support is very rare now in Louisiana. It is based on need and no fault on party receiving the support. It is not a third of the income but an amount based on need and ability to pay. A consent judgment can be changed anytime. Usually any change in support will be based on a change in circumstances-this can be a change in income, health, job status, etc. It can include changes in circumstances of either party.
