custody case
My sister died and she gave provisional custody of her three kids. The father wasn't inolved with the kids and never had been. Now that she is gone he want custody of the two boys.I have been taking care of these kids well over a year while my sister was dying and she made me promise to take care of her kids and not split them up.She died March 16 we buried her March 23.We went down to the funeral.Went by my other sister house and the mother of the father call to ask can she take the kids shopping I said no but my sister told me not to be like that.So I let them went. She said that she would bring them back that evening but instead she call to see if the kids can go to the funeral with her.I said ok but after the funeral I will pick them up because we were leaving the next morning heading back home.My siter and I go to pick the kids up and they were no where to be find and the mother acted as if she didn't know anyting about. So we end up staying another day looking for the kids they never show up so we called the police. And now we are going to court. This man is on disability, have one lung, heart problems and to top it off he have aids he admitted this in court. Please tell me what can I do to get them back home

Re: custody case
You said you had provisional custody. If that is by mandate, then it ended when your sister died. So, get a lawyer and go for custody emphasising best interest of the children....plus, he only wants the boys, so that should mitigate in your favor.

You should get an attorney to assist you with the court hearing; you can contact lsba dot org and have them refer you to some attorneys in your price range.
