Re: custody laws

Louisiana law states that custody decisions should be made in the "best interest of the child". Sometimes this would place the child with the mother, sometimes the father, occasionally with some other person. Unless one of the parents is a problem for the child the most common result is joint custody with one of the parents declared the domiciliary parent.

Re: custody laws

Dear Law Guru Friend,

Mr. Casanave is right! I would add that most judges favor a joint custody arrangement with the mother's being the domiciliary parent. That means the children would be with you most of the time and that they would reside with you during the school year. Best of luck! Billy Dalaune is a good lawyer in Alexandria. Call him! Tell him his old buddy Hardy Parkerson from Tulane Law School days said hello! Best of luck!

Sincerely,
