Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My daughter just had a baby. Father is on birth certificate, they are not married. But they live together. They are splitting up. What parental and custodial rights does he have. Does she need a lawyer? Can he take off with the baby legally?

He has the same rights as her. If they can be smart about it, they can find a non-confrontational lawyer and craft a custody/visitation agreement that a judge can sign, making it an order.

Believe me, it is much cheaper and less painful than litigation. I suggest a lawyer who also does family law mediation. Your local family court should have a list of those.
