Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My daughter's passport

I have joined custody of my 11 year old daughter. I gave permission to her dad to get her a passport, so they could go to south America last summer. She is with me now for summer vacation and I want to invite her to Canada, but her dad doesn't want to give me her passport. What should I do?

Dear Friend,

Sue him for damages and ask for a jury trial. Then tell him you will dismiss the suit if he will pay the court costs and surrender the passport. There is more to it all than this, but this something to think about.
