Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
Deadbeat Dad poster
Is it legal for me to post a ''deadbeat dad'' poster with the deadbeat's picture on it around where the deadbeat lives and to mail them to friends, family, etc. I read on the internet that it is legal but I want to be sure before I do it. I work for attorneys but don't want to bring my personal life to the office. Please help me collect some of the $13,000 I am owned by answering this for me. Thank you, --name removed--Martiny

Re: Deadbeat Dad poster
While the truth is always a defense to libel/slander/defamation, I do not see how this would help collect the back support. You need to think about how doing what you propose will impact your children and you. Some people will automatically think badly of you no matter how right you are. Additionally, you say you don't want to bring your personal life to the office, but this seems to guarantee that the whole world will know about it. If traditional collection methods don't work, why do you think this might? Either he has the money, can get it, or not. It would seem that threat of jail time is the best motivator. Getting aggressive with a rule for contempt seems the best. If you chose to go through support enforcement, that may well be the problem. One other thing. The State of Louisiana has a deadbeat dad website that you might want to visit. Should you have any questions just email me.
