Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
How difficult is a ''move away'' and how much do they cost?
I recently secured a great job oppertunity in New Orleans and would like to relocate with a minor child of the marriage. I recently lost my apartment in Fullerton, CA and have to vacate my residence by 6/14/2002. Currently, my ex-husband has our son the 1st, 3rd, and 5th weekends and three non-consecutive weeks during the summer with alternating holidays. I'm wondering exactly what I have to do in order to relocate to Lousiana on or before I have to vacate my apartment and how much it costs for such an order. Is there any way to bring it ex-parte? Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

You need to seek modification or your custody and visitation judgment in California.

You need to attempt to work out alternate visitation with the father. If that is not possible then you will have to go to court and get a court order.
You did not give the age of the child. Young children present special problems, until they are old enough to travel by air without a parent or other parent.
If your child is old enough you might consider high speed internet connections with a video camera to allow regular contact between father and child.
Act quickly to allow maximum time to work our alternate visitation.
