Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

divorce

Do I have to file for divorce in the parish in which I live, or can I file in the parish in which we were married? I'm in Assumption, my spouse is in Livingston, but we were married in Ascension and lived there while together.

Re: divorce

It depends on how long you have been living in Assumption Parish. You can only file a divorce where either party is "domiciled."

You should contact an attorney to determine where you should file your divorce proeedings.
