Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

if someone got a divorce and about sometime the sameday got a marriage license a

a friend is scared her marriage is not legal. can you help, by letting her know if it is or not...this all happen back in 1996..her ex.husband got their divorce in fla.and her and her new husband got a marriage license on the sameday. and found out later that her divorce was done the sameday...so is her marriage legal..

While she should have been more careful and been sure of the divorce, this should not cause her any problems.

A judgment is not final until all delays for appeal have run. They had not when she married. Since her ex-obtained the divorce he wouldn't appeal it, so he won't be complaining. Since the judgment is over 5 years old, she seems to be out of the woods. Still, she should have waited until she saw the signed judgment and the time to appeal in Florida had run.
