Divorce/Custody Question

Is there a statute of limitations in LA for finalizing a divorce after it has been filed? He filed for the divorce which I desperately want and has now decided that ''he may not want to go through with it'' Can he be forced to finish things? Also he requested a continuance on our child custody hearing officer date and the court hearing- is there anyway possible I can fight this?
