Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
I was divorced after 21 years of marriage. He just recently retired from a large company that closed it's plant. He was 55 years, but was offered a retirement package and was able to retire on alittle over $3000 per month. He remarried about 10 years ago and I never did. My question is: The attorney I talked to is not clear on this situation. He was paid hourly when we divorced, about $60,000 per year and after we divorced and the children where grown, he took a few colledge class that helped him move up the latter at work. His increase in pay was alot more and went sallary paid. His attorney said because he worked at it after the divorced, the difference in pay should not be calculated in my part. My attorney figured I would get $800 per month and his says $325 per month. Big difference. I am on disability for previous cancer and my back. Is there anything I can do about this. Who is right. Who decides. The judge makes that decision, is it negotiable, or cut and dry. I never got child support or allomony from him years ago. I didn't have to have it then, but I need it now.Where can I find the answers.

I am confused but assume you are talking about his retirement and your share of that since you mentioned that you got no alimony award. Retirement split is pretty cut and dry, so if you are talking about something else, please re-submit your question.
