Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Establishing child support

This involves 2 children, they are 21 and 5 years old, same dad. I did not file for legal support for the 21 yr. old, I struggled and fought for years with a verbal agreement between the AP and I. 21 is in her 4th yr of college, and I would like to file at least of behalf for the 5 yr.old. Now I feel it should be done right. My average income is 30,000 amd his is 75-80,000.Right now the verbal agreement is $400/mth. We were never married, he aknowledge paternity, and I head my own household. How can I make this right and less stressful. We have to wait until he decides we need the $$. I can't afford full legal fees. Help me please.

Re: Establishing child support

Contact your local office of family support. They can file suit to establish paternity and collect support on your behalf. It is too late to file for support for the adult child but not the young one.
