Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Family Dispute and Battery Charges

My mother in law lied on a police report and said I punched her in the chest after she came to my house while I was holding my 2 week old baby. She has now changed it to a push instead of a punch. I have simple battery charges against me now, but the city did not pursue the court. But this is still on my record as I was arrested for simple battery. Is there anything I can do to go after her legally or to legally make sure she cannot come near me again?

This is more of a criminal law issue, but I handle those matters also.

If the state/city chose to not prosecute, then you can get the arrest expunged from your record. Contact an attorney. This is not expensive.

I am assuming that this is your spouse's mother. You can get a restraining order, but an invitation to her by your spouse voids the order.
