Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

The father of my child has recently been ordered to pay 800 monthly child support for his first child. I have recently been advised that instead of the amount being divided between the two child , his first amount will be dedeucted form income and then child support for my child will be calculated. This is not fair to my child. Why is this so?

This must be because you filed for support after that sought for his older child. Child Support has to be paid so it is deducted from the income prior to further awards being determined.
