Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

father trying to get custody

what do think the odds are of (me) a father getting custody of my daughter, because she has failed school once and is on her way to failing again. her mother doesn't help her with school work and doesn't encourage her to do better. i think it is something i can do because the courts shouldn't let her ruin a girl's future because she's to damn dumb to see what she's doing to her.

Re: father trying to get custody

Any attorney worth his salt would NEVER predict the outcome of a custody case without something more compelling than a child failing in school. The ultimate deciding factor in Louisiana custody cases is what is in the "best interest of the child." Performance in school would certainly be a factor in making the best interest determination.
