Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Hi

My fiancee has a daughter that he has been unable to see as a result of the baby's mother. She will not allow him to see her. She has just been arrested on fraud charges and the daughter is now living with the grandmother. What rights are he entitled to as a result of the mother now being encarcerated. He did sign the birth certificate so what does he need to do in order to go and get his daughter. What documentation does he need. Does he need a lawyer if the mother is incarcerated.

Re: Hi

If the grandmother won't willingly give him custody, then he needs a lawyer to get a court to give him custody.
