Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Can I force my parent to pay me for my portion of the home?

My Dad is 76 years old and has remarried since my Mom's death. His home, which he has occupied and I grew up in has long been paid off. We have not spoken to one another for many years because of his new wife. She is ''taking'' him for all he's worth! My concern is that he may do something ignorant like give her the house. Is there any way I can force him to give me my Mother's share of the home now? Knowing his new wife, she already convinced him to do something. Is there anything I can do legally and is there anything he can do with the other half of ownership without me knowing?

Contact a lawyer and have your mother's succession opened. That way you are legally placed in possession of your interest in the property.
