Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
My girlfriend had papers filed for joint custody of my 2 boys (2 years old and 1 month old). At the time we were actually together and she said she was doing it incase anything happened we wouldn't fight over the children. Thinking it was reasonable I signed the papers and they were filed with the courts. A month later we broke up. The baby is 4 months old now and I have been having joint custoday since he was 2 months. The problem is he cries all the time. Other family members have helped take turns with him including a nurse but he still gets up every 45 minutes to an hour all night long. His mother swears he sleeps all night until 6am which leads me to believe he is too young for overnight visits. Not sure if laws are different in Louisiana but can I get a lawyer to change joint custody to daytime visits until the baby is older? T

Why not just ask the mother if you can change the arrangment? Joint custody does not mean 50-50 physical possession. Of course the court may take a dim view if later you want more contact that the mother allows.
