Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

grandparent's rights

I have been seeing my granddaughter on a regular basis, 1-2 times a week with sleepovers since she was 11 mos old. She is now 5. I am her paternal grandmother. My ex daughter in law told me that my visitation rights have been suspended indefinitely because my ex husband and I are friends and has been visiting me not in her presence. He is not allowed, by me, to come over when my granddaughter is visiting me. He has faithfully abided. She states that she doesn't know when he (ex-husband) will come over anyway and an arguement would happen. She doesn't want her child to see this. That has never happened. Although, 2 years ago there was a restrainig order by me placed on him for harrasing phone calls. I know my granddaughter not being allowed to see me will be detrimental to her. She has her own bedroom her, very nicely decorated. She has clothes.etc. We have such a tremendous bond. Do I stand a chance to do something about this?

Re: grandparent's rights

Your right to visit is through your son. If he will not let you visit, it is his choice. You can ask the court to grant you visitation if you can show a very strong attachment between you and the child and that it would be in her best interest to continue to visit you. The easiest way to make sure you see your granddaughter is to cut off the ex husband.....the choice is yours. Him or her.
