Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
HI--
I am a single father who works offshore but have custody of my 9 yr old son whose mother is deceased. I also have a 4 yr old, who now lives with his mother and I have been ordered to pay child support. The mother and I are obviously not together, but she is withholding my son from me. I wish to see him and call everyday but to no avail. Don't I have rights to see my OWN son? She is being very vindictive and withholding him from either talking or seeing me because I don't pay additional on his medical bills, which I have not been ordered by the courts to pay. BTW-- my child support is deducted from my check weekly so I am current in paying this. Please help me??
Thanks,
Kelly

You need to file a petition for custody and visitation. No matter where you work, joint custody is presumed to be in children's best interest. The court will work out the particulars if you as parents can't agree.
If Mom is violating a visitation order, you need her ordered into court for contempt. If found in contempt the court can order that she pay your reasonable attorney's fees.
