Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
Husband admits to affair
I received an anonymous letter in the mail detailing my husband's affair. Husband doesn't admit to sex with the named person, but does admit to calling her on his cell phone, and being alone with her on several occasions. Husband admits to kissing and fondling other woman. They were seen alone at her house kissing by woman's adult daughter. Husband admits to this, also.My husband has recently acquired a large debt to build a boat for his business. If I decide to pursue a divorce, what are my rights in regards to alimony, child support (boy,16), and property distribution?

Contact an experienced family law attorney immediately.
Whether or not you will get alimony (now called spousal support) and also the division of community property depend upon financial circumstances more than anything else.
With a 16 year old child, custody will depend greatly upon the child's preferences. Ultimately the court would decide based upon the "best interest of the child". Whoever gets domicile of the child is entitled to child support from the other parent.

Support for you depends on fault and need. Support for your child depends on who he lives with. You are entitled to 1/2 of the community assets and are responsible for 1/2 of the community debt. Those are the very basics.....seek an experienced divorce attorney to explore the issues in detail.
