Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
My ex husband, whom i had a child with who is 8 years old, was arrested on 4 counts of molestation of a juvenile. He is still in jail and his mother called to tell me that our custody agreement does not stop just because he is in jail. My daughter does not know her dad is in jail and neither of us want to tell her. What should I do? Our agreement is that she goes for weekend visitation every other weekend and every other week in the summer. I live in East Baton Rouge Parish and when he was arrested the 1st time in March I filed a temp protective order on behalf of my daughter only I had not attorney to help me out and his attorney got me to agree to supervised visitation with his parents supervising. However since that time he was arrested again on additional charges. There is so much to this and I do not feel my daughter should have to go as he is in jail and it is his visitation not his parents (he is 40 years old after all). Help! I am at a loss on how to deal with this. Do you have advice for me?

Contact your local "Legal Services Corporation" (also known as "Legal Aid"). Clearly, if he is a pedophile he has no business visiting your daughter. You need the order that guarantees that result.
