Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My husband and I just became legally separated over the summer. He left me with no money and makes $5500/mo. He is not paying my bills or his. My only concern is his truck note which is already late. My name is on the truck title with his. What can I do to protect my credit. I have near perfect credit up to this point.

You should proceed with the divorce and have the Judge order spousal support and payment of community bills. You should contact the lender and communicate with them about the circumstances. If they know what is occurring, they may be able to at least put a notation on the loan. They can tell you what they need in order for you to be removed. A great concern would be that you are getting notice of his late payments. Make sure he is getting copies of all bills owed. You can send them by certified mail, keeping copies of all mailed with the green return card. He has to have opportunity. Another avenue would be to pay the bills, keeiping copies of all payments and he will be ordered to reimburse you either monetarily or through community property settlement.
