If my husband is on a psych.unit can I file a legal separtion ?

There is no such thing as a legal separation in Louisiana. You can file for divorce, but will have to have a Curator appointed to protect his interest.

If your intention is to protect property you could file an interdiction (a declaration that he is unable to manage his affairs).
