Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My husband walked out on me in April of 2009. I have not filed for divorce and neither has he. He is a retiree form General Motors and GM/Fidelity told me he could not drop me from the insurance until he had divorve papers. "UAW Medical Benefits Trust" has taken of the insurance as of January 1, 2010. Since then, my husband has dropped me from the insurance (as of August 31, 2010) and I am wondering how this is legal to do without notifying me. Thanks for your response.

If you don't have a court order, they are not obligated to protect your coverage.
