Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My husband and his ex wife have joint custody of his daughter. Her mother lives 70 miles away with her new husband. His daughter has gone to school here all her life and now her mother is trying to make her go to a private school where she lives. Is there anything we can do about this?

The first question is what does the joint custody agreement say about domicile & schools? If the mom is the domiciliary parent I would file to change that status. I strongly suggest getting the existing agreement and order reviewed by an attorney.

If the child ends up in private school mom ight try to increase child support to get dad's help with tuition.
