My initial reaction to your situation is that you need to hire a local attorney in Louisiana to respond to the legal proceedings there in a timely fashion to be sure that no Court Orders are entered against you by default. It is somewhat unlikely that there are many Missouri lawyers who also practice in Louisiana, but even if you found one, the cost of having a Missouri lawyer represent you in the Louisiana case would be considerable. You may want to consult with a Missouri lawyer to see if there are legal grounds upon which the legal proceedings can be removed to Missouri, and if so, the Missouri lawyer can communicate with the Louisiana lawyer as necessary. Of course, I would suggest that you consider very carefully exactly how much money is at stake so that you do not spend more than that on attorney's fees and expenses. To find attorneys in either state, there are various websites you can check out including lawyers.com,findlaw.com, the state government sites, and the state bar association sites. Good luck.

Mr. Nack is correct about the cost of a Missouri Lawyer representing you in Louisiana.
A Louisiana Lawyer, who should cost much less, should be able to file an exception to the jurisdiction (unless the child lived in Louisiana during the last six months). Otherwise Louisiana Law says this is not a Louisiana case.
