If a person marries an individual in Louisiana and then discovers that his divorce in Maryland has not been finalized, what is the status of the second marrage?

First, as to the innocent spouse, it is a "putative marriage". This means that the spouse who had every right to marry has all of the rights & privileges of any married person including community property and spousal support (alimony).

As to the accidental bigamist: This person has none of the rights and all of the obligations of a spouse.
