Re: When can I leave?''

Dear Young LawGuru Friend,

Whoever told you that told you right. At age seventeen (17) you are no longer a juvenile, so that juvenile authorities have no jurisdiction over you; and you are not yet an adult, so your parents are responsible for you; but there is nothing in the law that would keep you from leaving home. I would just advise you to stay with your parents, however. You will miss them when you are gone, and they will miss you too. As I try to tell all young people that I have an opportunity to tell, the most important thing in life is God and your relationship to him. Succeed in that and you have succeeded in all; fail in that and you have failed in all. Good luck to you and your parents!

Sincerely,

Hardy Parkerson, Atty.
