In Louisiana, joint custody is the norm. This does not always mean a 50-50 split but it is formulated in the best interest of the children.

Joint custody is preferred in Louisiana. Shared custody is joint custody in which both parents have almost equal time with the children. Joint custody should not be a problem, but you will just have visitation rights. Shared custody is possible, but you need to work harder with your attorney to attain that.
