What are my legal rights for the return of an engagement ring? She stated via email that I can have the ring back, but still has not returned it.

An engagement ring has to be returned to the groom if the wedding is called off. If the ring was given on a birthday or Christmas, some cases have stated that it was a gift and not in contemplation of a marriage (thus, the woman can keep it because it was a gift to her), but even most of those cases go the other way. An engagement ring is not a gift, it is given in anticipation of marriage. Thus, it is pretty iron-clad that the ring has to go back to the would-be-groom if the wedding is called off.
