Legal Separation
I would like to know the general process for an agreed upon legal separation between 2 parties.

In La. we do not have legal separations anymore. We have divorces under La. Civil Code Articles 102 and 103. Under 102 the parties separate, suit is filed seeking relief for child support, custody, alimony, etc., then, once the parties have been separated for 180 days, either party can rule the other one into court to show cause why a divorce should not be granted. Under 103, a party can get a divorce if they've been separated for over 6 months, adultery or conviction of the other spouse of a felony and sentence to hard labor.
