Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
Liberal visitation out of state
I'm a Katrina evacuee who relocated to Colorado. Me and our two preschool kids have been living separate from husband since mid 2003, but nothing was ever filed. I received judgment of divorce in mail today for me to sign and mail back. I'm concerned on wording and seek clarification; it grants joint custody, I'm named domiciliary parent in state of CO, and husband is ''granted reasonable and liberal visitation in the State of LA, where he resides, as well as in the State of CO, when he is able to travel there.'' That's all, there's nothing more detailed about it.
Should I sign as is, or is this setting me up to be legally bound to fly the kids to LA frequently?

Re: Liberal visitation out of state
Since this is a complex legal document with very serious implications for you and your children, I suggest that you retain a Louisiana Lawyer to review the document, negotiate any changes in it, and make sure it is actually filed.
This is far less expensive than going to court and you will know that your custody is court ordered.
