Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
I was living in Slidell, La and working in Bossier city, la, 6 years ago. Dated a woman and she got pregnant. Found out about the pregnancy after we stoppped dating. Took a paternity test, and went to court, agreeded not to see her for the time being because the mother is a little "NUTS". Met my daughter recently who is now 6 years old. Asked the mother for a thanksgiving visitation, and she agreed, only if picked her up and brought her back. Was told i couldnt come get her the day before i was to pick her up. Was told i cant even talk to her on the telephone now. If i go to court and try to get visitation, what can i expect as far as how often, who meets where , or if i will even get visitation.

It is presumed that two parents are best for a child. Unless you are proven unfit, you should get visitation. You very well may get shared custody. Because of the lack of contact, a court would gradually introduce you into your daughters life but with the goal of full rights and privileges. You should hire an attorney and file a petition to set custody, visitation and support.
