Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

how long before you cant do a succesion anymore? Me and my husband were married almost 10 years and my mother in laws trying to get everything we owned because my husband has a 13 year old son, we had no kids together and no home just personal items and he had a truck before marriage and we bought me a truck and we bought a boat and a camper after we got married. What are my rights?

There is no prescriptive period or "statute of limitations" on opening a succession. Succession can be opened anytime.

Whatever you purchased during the marriage is community property, meaning that you already own 1/2 of it yourself. His truck purchased before the marriage would have been his separate property and would likley go to his son.
