Louisiana Adopted Child Rights

When a child is adopted in Louisiana in 1956, does that child then have guaranteed inheritance rights from the adopted parents? Meaning: can the adopted child expect an inheritance of some sort even if the parents leave nothing to the adopted child in the will?

The adopted child has the exact same rights as a natural child in so far as the adoptive parents are concerned. Since the child is over 23 years of age, there is a good possibility that leaving him out of the will is perfectly legal. However, they should check into it, just in case.

Depends on when the parents died, when the will was written, and how the will is written. If they died within the last couple years and the will was written recently, the adopted child likely has no claim.
