Marital Settlement Agreement

I would like to know if it is mandatory to have a marital settlement agreement when filing for divorce.

I recommend that my clients, if they are able to come to an agreement, file a marital settlement agreement. Without it, they may argue later over ownership and may find that they are stuck paying bills that were unexpected or going back to court again and again.
