Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I am married and have an alcoholic wife with mental issues. Is it possible to get a judgement against her to where she would legally have to wear an ankle bracelet so we would know if she left the house? She waits till I am at work to walk to a gas station to get her liquor. She drinks it there and then walks home. I find her blacked-out in the house or outside . In the past she has been in the car with strangers, been shot at, and blacked-out in other peoples yards. She has spent the last 9 yrs. in and out of rehab facilities. None of them have been of any help other than giving me a break. On the topic of her mental illness, she has multiple personalities according to her therapist. So she doesn't always know she drank. This makes getting a clear picture of the situation almost impossible. Well, that's my issue. I hope you have some good legal advice.

Thanks,

Marty

If you do not want to divorce her, then have her committed as being incompetent. You will ask that she be interdicted, which means she will be hospitalized for at least 72 hours to begin with. Then you may get the court to order her hospitalized for a longer period. The court will not order an ankle bracelet unless she is incompetent. You did not mentioned children, but you did say WE, so if there are children then the State Office of Community Services may become involved to protect the children and take them into State's custody. You need a doctor to declare her incompetent. So, get an attorney in the LaPlace area to assist you Good luck.
