Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Being married to two women in two countries

I just recently found out my husband for the past 27 years may have also gotten married in Thailand in the last year. What are my legal rights concerning this matter?

Re: Being married to two women in two countries

If you were the first and are still married to him, then Louisiana will not recognize the second marriage ceremony but may give the other woman what your husband would get from the community property, with the result that the two women would get assets and the husband less than half. You should consult an attorney and it would probably be best to keep it a secret from your husband and others, at least until you decide what you want to do. Your husband would not make a good impression in court if he has "married" a second wife abroad.
