My mom died and did not have a will. The home she has is not paid for. Who is responsible for the house notes and who can live in it?

The owner or owners of the house owe the mortgage and can live there. If she was the sole owner, then her heirs become owners. However, if the debts far out number the assets, then the heirs or any of them, can renounce the succession and the creditors would then maneuver to get the assets.
