Can a mother sign her legal rights away to an aunt

She cannot unless she has sole custody and that is only valid for a year maximum and may be terminated at the whim of the mother anytime after granting it. The Aunt and mother can go to court and have a Judgment rendered by the Judge. That is not a difficult thing, but the father has to be served with the paperwork. If the Aunt wants to adopt, then the father's rights would have to be terminated even if the mother signed a voluntary surrender.
