Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

I want to know how and what paperwork I need to file in order to petition the courts in Louisiana for custody of my cousin. The mother is deceased and there isn't father listed on the birth certificate. The child currently resides with me in another state. I dint have enough money to hire an attorney and I don't qualify for legal assistance.

In almost every community there is "Legal Aid" (also known as a Legal Services Corporation). Go speak to them. If they cannot help you, they should maintain a list of lawyers who would work at reduced rates.
