Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Permenant Legal Custody Issues

I am a grandmother who was granted permenantlegal custody of the daughter of my youngest female child in 06/2000. In May of 2003, I allowed her to live with her mother on a trial basis. I am not pleased with the level of care being provided. It seems as if she has not changed and continues to make irresponsible decisions. She is currently financially unable to provide a safe environment for this child as evidenced by late falling behind rent payments, electricity disconnections, failing to bring her to school because she has no gas money etc....My daughter has a college degree but refuses to get a day job that is steady and would allow her to provide a safer environment.

I have decided to take the child back into my home permenantly for her own safety. My plan is to pick her up for the weekend and then call the mother and explain my decision to her. I have reason to believe that if I told her of my intentions first, she would take the child out of school and go into hiding. What are the possible legal ramifications of my taking her? Do I need a lawyer again? How strong are the chances that my daughter could seek legal remedy and get her back?

Re: Permenant Legal Custody Issues

If you have legal custody, and the court has not changed its judgment, then you still have legal custody.
